Meet Kith

2017 Bay Gelding
Uncle Mo - Qualia, by Saarland

Now known as Doc.

This striking bay gelding once flew down the stretch at Parx Racing. But today, his path often follows a soccer ball.

After stepping away from the track, Doc found his forever home with Christine Davis — a rider, rehomer, and someone who knows a special horse when she meets one. It didn’t take long to realize: Doc wasn’t going anywhere. He’s home for good.

“He’s the kind of horse that makes you fall in love with Thoroughbreds,” Christine shared. “He gives 100% of his heart in everything he does. Whether it’s working bridleless or making new friends in the barn, he’s just all in.”

Doc is already a barn favorite, and not just with people. His best friend? A cat named Pablo. They share a stall — no grate needed — because Doc insists on greeting everyone who walks by.

Now beginning his next chapter in low-level eventing (and maybe even leadline/jumper days ahead), Doc shows us exactly what second chances are made of.

From racehorse to heart horse.

𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢 (𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨)

2012 Chestnut Mare

Street Hero – Try to Appeal, by Skip Trial

Retired through Dark Horse Farm | Adopted by Emily

Some horses change your ride.

Minni changed Emily’s world.

After a 21-start career across Parx, Pimlico, and beyond—earning over $100,000—Mini Hero came to Turning For Home with the same toughness that carried her on the track, and there is nothing "Minnie" about her.. But behind that chestnut coat was a heart looking for one thing: her person.

Now known as Minni, she’s exactly where she’s meant to be—in a home filled with love, purpose, and plenty of cookies. Emily says it best:

"She is my once-in-a-lifetime horse. I knew instantly she was coming home with me. She felt safe. She is my home."

At 17 hands, she’s still a bit of a toddler in a tank of a body. But despite the growing pains, 2025 is shaping up to be her year. Minni’s favorite pastime? Soaring over jumps—and reminding everyone that big mares can fly.

Emily’s favorite part? The kisses. The nickers. The way Minni waits for her treat and makes her feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

Some retirements are more than a second chance.

This one was fate.

Ifwhizkycouldtalk

2019 Bay Gelding
Unfettered - Pam Got Even, by Stephen Got Even

Ifwhizkycouldtalk had just three starts on the track, including a win at Parx, before team Ed Coletti Racing Stable made a decision that would change his life—they retired him responsibly, choosing his well-being over pushing for more. That was just the beginning.

He was adopted through Turning For Home, but like many sensitive athletes, he needed more time and more answers. He returned to the program for a second evaluation, possibly facing a diagnosis of kissing spines. But what some saw as a setback, the TFH Partner Farms saw as a challenge worth taking on.

With patience, care, and the collaboration of our dedicated aftercare farms, he was rehomed again—this time, landing in a program that would reveal his true talent.

Today, under the guidance of Catherine Brown, Ifwhizkycouldtalk is leading the 2025 TAKE2 Thoroughbred Hunter standings, 35 points ahead of the nearest competitor. His form over fences is pure class, his rhythm effortless, and his classic shoulder—passed down from Stephen Got Even on the dam side—shows why this line is so sought after in the hunter and jumper rings.

From a Parx starter allowance to the top of the hunter leaderboard, his story is a reminder:

It takes a village to give these horses their best life.

Turning For Home is proud to support the TAKE2 Thoroughbred League, where horses like Ifwhizkycouldtalk prove, time and again, that a second career can be a second chance at greatness.
